Over the past few years Youngpreneur Media has been on the look out for inspirational and trendsetting young entrepreneurs for their documentary series: I Am Youngpreneur and I have always felt honored when working with the brand.
Their content is licensed by various broadcasters world over, with their entrepreneur profiles showcased from the small screens of SAA's in-flight service to the television screens of living rooms on the African continent on DSTV. They are now filming their second season of the inspirational series for an international SVOD platform.
When Chief Creative Officer of YPM Laurian Nortje my friend and fellow presenter at Hectic Nine Nine contacted me regarding being honored as one of the entrepreneurs I could not say no.
Laurian and her film crew got to follow what a few days in my life are like, (Needless to say they were very tired lol but loads of fun was had)
We started our day filming at Spa and Skincare Company Dermistem where we tested product and had a treatment or two. It was also the weekend of the #CosmoSummer party and the designer I discovered 27 hours before the event came to fit me. From there we made our way to Merwe Mode and The Browmwell to source for all of Jimmy's performances that weekend. While at the Bromwell we did a 40min interview about my brand, my journey and my beliefs. The day ended after sourcing as we had confidential pre production meetings set up but we all arranged to meet the next morning.
Saturday started at 5am we had to sort and pack everything that was required made sure everyone was aware and ready to be where they needed to be. We then rushed to do early Saturday morning shopping for another client and sourcing from Leaf Apparel for Jimmy's dancers before heading out to do my hair and make up with my bestie Lisa. The YPM crew filmed me getting my hair and make up done by make up artist Stacy Robin before slipping into my Alist look for Jimmy's concert at Woodstock Live by Mother City live.
We had planned to go to the concert, dress everyone, leave for The Waterfront where Designer Courtney Taljaard was waiting to dress me in the bathroom, film the "red carpet" at Shimmy For #ComoSummer and #Sunglasshut then back to Jimmy... But we all know what happens to plans lol.
Everyone ran late the one day I was early, so we had to rework the schedule and and only ran an hour late but at least Jimmy was on stage on time looking amazing.
While Jimmy sang on stage I was in the Waterfront bathrooms standing on the toilet seat getting roped into (Literally) my dress. A lady came and asked me while getting dressed "If I was REALLLLLLLY going to wear that" to which I responded yes I am and this girl made it, but the fast fashion threads you are wearing made by sweat shop kids is definitely better }insert sarcasm.
I then rushed over to Shimmy where we filmed the final part of my story, actually getting to have fun. Jimmy arrived after his performance so we all got to have a mini celebration.
Cosmo and Sunglass Hut really know how to throw a party, The drinks and food were flowing and the guests were chilled and having a party. Not hard I suppose with DJ Black Coffee playing in the background.
I had the best few days filming this, being able to show the craziness, the sacrifice and the fun was amazing. Sharing knowledge is one of our biggest responsibilities and what I hope my legacy will be. Excited for you all to watch it in February 2017.
Thank you to the entIre YPM team
