People I am so sorry but you really need to open your eyes to other people's struggles. It might be majority sunshine and flowers on your side, but the majority of people in South Africa are living in fear and crippling poverty!
Have you gone to an outhouse? Have you had to go to the toilet at night but cannot because it is too dangerous? Get your period but cant afford tampons or pads, let alone thin ones with wings?
Do you have family members living in areas under severe gang violence. Everyone waiting for a negi call. Do you know how many young people I know who have been killed in the last 2 years? I refuse to count them like numbers. Do you even know about the gang violence? I find the focus on the good comments seriously offending.
I am one of the most positive people I know, esp online, ask anyone who has been following me since My Space. Feel free to read all the way to my 1st Facebook posts, in fact I will share some with this post on FB #IBeenQuoting. I even had an online radio show called BEfm all about the pozi. Of course I can see the good, Life FOR ME is mostly wonderful I am engaged to my best friend, my entire family is kind and talented, private schooling. I ate whenever I wanted to. Achieved some epic goals. Traveled overseas. I am sick & could afford meds. All mostly Gravy.
That is not the point, the point is for years I have preached on my platforms be positive, be kind, be loyal, wear local etc. However as they say there is a time and place for everything.
NOW is the time for action! Why? Because it is 2016 yet people are still in serious trouble and we all playing. Everyone keeps saying don't let your phone overtake your family, um if all this slaying and 'goalsing' is keeping people so engrossed that they cant see their families how they even going to flinch at someone's pain they do not know?
People's pain has simply become pictures with an emotion and comment section then on to the next one. So we continue to smile and look at everything else BUT what is genuinely happening.
The world is not in the stone-age we ALL know what is going on. The jokes made at dinner parties, this almost untraceable arrogance. Maybe it is time to be uncomfortable come down from our lofty towers and change.
This year is different. We have elections coming up. Politically the World is so unstable. Whatever happens anywhere esp. when it effects currency, effects us right here in SA. Maybe you only feel it when you travel but other people can no longer afford bread. There wont be Facebook in World War 4.
People are tired. Time to help for real. Racism is destroying us and all lhis 'sweep it under the carpet and dance together on it' nonsense is helping no one. I am saying I have experienced racism. I am also saying every time I am with a group of non white friends someone has a story to tell about something racist be it blatantly, underhandedly or slightly. It's the little things, who gets served first, or not served at all, followed by security or asked if they work there.
Its knowing you are going to probably get stopped by Neighborhood watch in a white area even though you have lived in the area 2 decades. Its the demeaning feeling walking into incredible mansions knowing your grandparents house is the size of the granny cottage on the property but got removed off a farm 10x that size. Racism and our experiences of it hurt and are valid.
Do you know what its like to cry on the floor in Pick n Pay because you don't have R10 or the confidence to simply say no I will not that comes with having money. EMPATHY PEOPLE! You cannot just dismiss peoples valid emotions and concerns.
There is nothing positive about telling a bleeding man to look at the stars and smile while you have bandages in your hand.
