I found theHive on Instagram one day and contacted Jade the owner. We got along amazingly and she understood my chaotic schedule which I do appreciate.
Jade gave me a few pieces for the Marina ad I styled (ad on my youtube) and then also dressed me for my first #style101 speech at FEDISA. I fell in love. The quality is astounding you have to actually touch it to understand.
theHive is so special I am wearing a piece from the new collection in this months site canvas. When speaking about the line Jade had the following to say.
"theHive was born out of my pure love of creating beautiful things.I'm inspired by nature, the intricacy found in colour, texture and form and people of course! theHive as a name represents the intricacy found in people working together; like a bee hive, or a birds nest its all about the finer details.
I want this brand to always be about creating a statement, about leaving a message and creating a movement of knowing where we are getting our clothing from, who made it and why. theHive is all about local design, wearing local and supporting South African manufacturing.
theHive started 2 years ago with the idea of creating womens wear clothing detailed with crochet. I started in the back section of my bedroom and slowly moved into my own studio (which was actually a cow shed on a dairy farm back in the day.)
I quickly climbed up the ladder stocking 7 stores and 2 online stores as well as styling for new Top Billing presenter and local personalities. I have recently developed the brand and slowly feel like I am on the road to exactly where I want to be. theHive has now moved into a bespoke range with hand painted fabrics, beading and crochet; focusing only summer, mainly swimwear with a touch of resort dresses."
